EMO was established in the early 1980s. The company has gone through different phases in the past 25 years. We started out from a direct mailing company and grew into one of the leading academic bookstore.
The Asian Financial Crisis in 1997 was a turning point for EMO. Contrary to the downtrend, the book industry boomed. It was the effect of an overwhelming increase of local colleges/universities offering twinning/3+0 programs to cater to students who cannot afford to further their studies overseas.
